Phew! Christmas is over, the hustle and bustle of last minute present buying and food shopping over and done with, feverishly wrapping presents up when the little people have finally gone to sleep and piling them all underneath the tree, all over, done for another year and survived wahoo, I raise my glass to all the other mums (and dads) who have survived yet another stressful christmas, but you know what I absolutely LOVED every single minute of it. I loved that my children were so excited, to see their little faces when they opened their gifts was magical and I really couldn't have asked for more.

Because our budget has been a little stretched this year, so as not to compromise on what presents we could buy our children we decided to not buy each other gifts this year. I must confess though, I was browsing through the internet on ebay y'know just looking but not really intending to buy anything when my eyes alighted on this ::

Isn't it lush?
full of lovely vintage but modern goodies to knit and I got the wanties sooooooooooo bad and just had to have it, so one click and BOOM, it was mine! bought and paid for thank-you-very-muchly. I was soooooo excited when it arrived today, it was like my special little christmas gift to myself, to say well done on surviving what has probably been one of the worse and difficult years of my life so far. I also must confess that I just want to look like the model on the front cover of the book......................lush,lush,lush.

I haven't started any knitting projects from it yet, but it has been lovingly poured over many times with wistful sighing taking place.

I think I may even splash out on the real mccoy Louisa Harding wool to knit with :D If I buy it one ball at a time I don't think I will feel as guilty buying it, will I??
Hoping you survived your christmas period too, and had just a lovely time as I did, and hoping that you are planning to see the new year in with style!!!!
Here's hoping that 2012 is a good 'un

Hearts on a string

Brrrr! Today, I'm really, really struggling to keep warm. Even after copius amounts of hot coffee, surrounding myself with blanket and cushions I'm freeeeeeezing! I think winters definately here!!!
So, we've had a fairly happy couple of weeks here in the frog prince (new) house. We've had fun and decked the halls (I may post a pic or two later!) and we've had lots of nice "family Time". To many of you this might not seem so special, but because of our drastically altered lifestyle we are lapping up every moment of free time by taking the children on various little jollies. The above picture was taken last weekend when we visited the humber bridge country park, which is just litterally past the humber bridge. So, off we pootled in the car all wrapped up with blankets, coats, hats, scarves and gloves for a bit of woodland exploring!

Don't you think its lovely? ::

I've also had time to do lots of crafty projects which I've been looking forward to for ages! I'm really into making garlands/bunting at the moment. I think it's a nice cheerful way of bringing a bit of fun and colour in to your home without having to make any drastic changes! So, I came up with this little lovelie::

Hearts on a string! can you think of anything more darling than that? no, thought not! Mine have been crocheted following the pattern over at Bella Dia's blog. It's a fab pattern very easy to follow and produces fab looking hearts......what else could you ask for?!
I decided to use red and white........I think at this stage I was aiming for something a bit festive, although I think you could hang out your hearts any time of the year, not just christmas! I had lots of fun delving into my buttons stash and embellishing with ribbons and beads and lots of buttons! I even got to play with my new glue gun (I do love a new toy) to make sure the embellishments were well and truly fixed on. I've decided to put this one up for sale in my etsy shop, to share the handmade love so to speak!!!
I've also grabbed the bull by the horns and finally signed up to twitter! I'm still not really sure what it's all about, but I do know that it's a good way of posting links up of all your handmade goodies from etsy! My shop has even had a bit of increased traffic :) It's nice to know that social media can be good for you!!! It does get a lot of bad press sometimes. I wonder if this is how we will start to sell more of our handmade goods in the future?

Well, the kettles calling me once again! If anybody knows any good ways of keeping warm I'd be glad for your tips lol
